There are not many restaurants on this Island as most tourists prefer to dine in their resort only. But the one restaurant that’s on itinerary of every tourist is the Bloody Mary's. This restaurant has served many Hollywood personalities like Pamela Anderson, Marlon Brando, Pierce Brosnan and Janet Jackson. You can also go to the Restaurant Patoti, Sunset Boulevard, Villa Mahana, and Bounty Snack restaurants to enjoy a nice meal.
Bora Bora also provides a unique shopping experience. You will find hundreds of little shops in many markets of this island, selling handicrafts, local food products, jewellery, garments and other beautiful artifacts. Many resorts have some branded and high class boutiques and shops also.There are around 6,000 locals living in Bora Bora. The people of this island are extremely religious and traditional. Many of them still believe in old folklores and myths. But they are extremely inviting and love to share their culture with tourists.
Women wear crowns made of flowers and traditional Tahitian outfits to celebrate various festivals. Many of the ancient temples were destroyed when Protestant missionaries came to this island. But that attempt to destroy the true culture and religious beliefs of the people of this island was unsuccessful. Something that is apparent in the strong presence of local culture of Bora Bora.
People here, are very relaxed and live their life with no worries. French, English and Tahitian are the three languages spoken in Bora Bora.This volcanic island lies around155 miles away from northeastern Tahiti. This island is over seven million years old. This main island is around 3 miles wide and 6 miles long. A mountain chain dominates its central region. Bora Bora is actually has two more islands called Toopua and Toopua Iti. These islands are separated by a lagoon that lies between them.
The climate of Bora Bora is tropical. During November to April, the island receives most of its rain. The temperature remains around 27 degrees C to 30 degrees C during these months. The peak tourist season is from May to October. These months mostly stay dry and temperature remains between 24 degrees C and 28 degress C.Economy of this small island is almost entirely based on tourism. Most locals are related to the tourism industry in one way or another. This is one of the most expensive places in the world as everything from food to cloth is imported.
Living standards of locals is not very high, but most people earn good living and stay comfortably on this beautiful island.
