Maribor has become a shopping hub for the entire region. Shops in the older part of the city are especially great for buying some great handicrafts and souvenirs. There are also several shopping malls in the newer part of the city like Euro Park, Mercator, and Rutar etc. which are great places to shop in Maribor.

People and Culture:

Maribor has beautiful culture that provides a great mix of tradition and modern world. People in this beautiful city love playing music and reed pipe and Haloze whistle are the main musical instruments played here. They also have their traditional folk dances which are quite similar to the dances in the rest of the country. Maribor is also famous for its beautiful handicrafts which are made of glass, wood, clay and different types of fabrics.

People in this city are very warm and affectionate.

Geography and Climate:

Maribor lies near the border with Austria on the banks Drava River. It is situated at a height of 269.5 m, at 46° 33' 39" N latitude and 15° 39' 12" E longitude. It lies on point where Drava River meets Pohorje Mountain, Slovenske gorice ranges, Drava Plain and Drava Valley. Lying in the center of Lower Styria region, it is the biggest city of the region. It has one of the biggest airports in the country.

Maribor has a pleasant climate with really cool winters and beautiful spring season that often comes early. The temperature rises significantly during summer and autumn season.
