Celje is the third largest Slovenian city and many times referred as City of the Counts. Celje has a population of almost 49,000. The city prides in its rich history. The Celts, and later the Romans, laid the foundations of the ancient Celje, bestowing beauty and glory on it. In the medieval times, the town drew its power and pride from the Counts of Celje who spread the splendor of the three stars of Celje across Europe. But the desire to reach for the stars did not fade away along with the dynasty of the Counts.

The town carried on its deliberate and fresh drive, all the way to the third millennium when it enjoys the reputation of a rapidly growing city that is nice to live in, pleasant to visit, and attractive to the investors. It is the center of the Savinjska region in terms of development, business, economy, trade, culture, education, public administration, health care, sports, and fairs. It is aspiring to become the contemporary center of high technology and an international university center. A true epicenter of creativity!
