Capital of the Valencia province, Valencia is one of the largest cities in Spain. In fact, it is only the 21st biggest city in Europe. Valencia has a population of over 810,000. Situated in the Mediterranean coastline of Spain, this beautiful city overlooks the Gulf of Valencia. Lying opposite Balearic Islands, there are many mountains in this city which provide some extremely beautiful scenes.

Sightseeing:

Museums: Valencia is home to many great museums where you can learn about various aspects of this city and Spain. Museums like Ciutat de les Arts les Ciencies, Museu de Prehistoria de Valancia, Museu Valencia d'Etnologia, Blasco Ibanez, etc are great way to enjoy a wonderful day.

The Barri Del Carme: This is a picturesque neighborhood in the old city center. Take a relaxing stroll down this diverse neighborhood. There are many lovely shops, boutiques and cafes here also.

The Seu: It is a unique cathedral that has 3 different architectural styles doors. Each type of architecture belongs to a different period in History.

The Llotja: This building is a UNESCO landmark. Its beautiful architecture was restored recently and the famous gargoyles are back in their full glory.

Torres de Quart: Lying on the corner of Calle Quart, this is a medieval tower. This tower used to be included in the wall that surrounded this city during medieval times.

Things and Sports to Do:

Fallas: This is an ancient festival that was started by carpenters in the city. In this old tradition, carpenters used burn their scrap wooden items before the St. Joseph festival. They used to create huge wooden structures called Fallas and burn them in the streets. This annual festival is celebrated in the month of March in Valencia.

La Tomatina: This festival is help in August on the last Wednesday. This is an extremely fun, yet nasty festival in which people through tomatoes on each other. This is a world famous festival that attracts thousands of participants from all over Spain and abroad.

Restaurants and Shopping:

Valencia is the city of people who love to have good food and great wine. So you can find many fine restaurants all over this city. Restaurants like Rias Gallegas, Taberna Alkazar, Riff and Albacar are extremely popular.

There are hundreds of stores in Valencia where you can shop till you drop. Buy handmade handicrafts, laces, ceramics and beautiful clothes. The shopping scene in this city offers everything you want. This is the city with endless shopping opportunities. There are many street markets as well as many high-end boutiques and stores.

People and Culture:

People of this beautiful city are extremely friendly and full of energy. Their lifestyle is much calmer than we have in bigger cities. People speak Spanish and Valencian languages. The culture of this place is highly influenced by Spanish culture. This city also has a happening nightlife.

Geography and Climate:

Valencia has a very contrasting geography. It lies on a narrow strip along Mediterranean Sea. It comprises pristine beaches surrounded by tall mountains. The whole city is covered in verdant fields and lush green orchards.

Climate of Valencia is Mediterranean climate. The average temperature remains around 17 degrees C (64 degrees F) with slight fall during winter months.

Economy, Prices and Living Standard:

The economy of Valencia is quite strong due to busy port and construction industry. Valencia has the biggest port in Western Mediterranean. Valencia is also a big exporter of many articles like ceramic tiles, textiles, furniture, oranges etc.

Tourism industry is also very important to this attractive city. It has many places and a long beach line attracts thousands of tourists every year. Valencia is quite an expensive place to stay and visit but it is still not completely out of reach as far as a holiday is concerned.

Living Standards are high as most people earn good living and population is under control. People have all the means in the world which make for a high standard of living.
